Short answer: medium trees (about 5–10 m) in Greater Brisbane are commonly quoted around $800–$2,500 each (WhatsTheDamage, Oct 2026). Native trees in Logan's vegetation overlays often need Council approval before cutting. Send suburb, approximate height, photos and urgency and we will pass a free quote request to a local arborist.

Logan Tree Removal Quotes is an independent referral service: we pass your request to a local arborist or tree-service crew. Any contract is between you and them.

How much does tree removal cost in Logan?

There is no published Logan-only price table we can cite. WhatsTheDamage's Greater Brisbane guide (verified October 2026) is the closest sourced range:

  • Small (under 5 m): $250–$800 per tree
  • Medium (5–10 m): $800–$2,500
  • Large (10–20 m): $2,000–$5,000
  • Extra-large (20 m+): $4,500–$15,000
  • Emergency / storm damage: $500–$5,000 per job

Prices move with access, proximity to roofs and powerlines, whether a crane is needed, stump grinding, and haul-away. See the tree removal cost guide.

Do I need Logan City Council approval?

Often, yes, for native trees. Logan protects native vegetation under the Biodiversity Areas Overlay (primary and secondary vegetation management areas) and the Waterway corridors and wetlands overlay. Secondary vegetation includes native trees over 4 m tall or with a trunk circumference of 31.5 cm or more at 1.3 m. Check the Logan PD Hub and Council's vegetation clearing decision tool. Approval, when required, is an Operational Works application. State koala habitat and remnant vegetation rules can apply as well. Full guide: tree removal permits in Logan.

Palm tree removal in Logan

Palms (cocos, cabbage-tree and ornamental palms on older Logan estates) are a common removal request. They are often treated as a specialised dismantling job because of trunk weight and frond drop. Cost still depends on height, access and whether the stump is ground. Send clear photos of the palm and surrounding roofs or powerlines with your quote request. If the palm sits in a mapped vegetation overlay, confirm approval rules with Council first — exotic palms are usually not "native vegetation", but covenants and development conditions can still apply.

What should I ask the arborist?

  • AQF Certificate III in Arboriculture (or higher) for climbing and removal work; Diploma (AQF5) if you need a written consulting report.
  • Current public-liability insurance certificate and WorkCover.
  • Whether Council or state approval is needed before cutting.
  • What the quote includes: climb vs crane, traffic control, stump grinding, mulch left on site, and clean-up.

Queensland has no QBCC-style licence number for arborists. Industry associations such as the Queensland Arboricultural Association publish membership criteria; membership is voluntary.

  2. We pass it to one independent local arborist or tree-service crew who services your area.
  3. If the job suits them, they inspect and quote — including whether Council or state approval is needed. The arborist who accepts the job confirms timing.

Frequently asked questions

Is tree lopping the same as tree removal?

Not under Logan's published definitions. Council summarises Queensland legislation: lopping means cutting or pruning branches and does not include removing the trunk or cutting so severely that the tree is likely to die. Clearing (removal) means remove, cut down, ring-bark, push over, poison or destroy vegetation. Locally people often say "lopping" when they mean cutting a tree down — say which outcome you want on the form.

Who actually removes the tree?

An independent local arborist or tree-service business. We are a referral and information service: we pass your details to one crew who services your suburb. Any contract is between you and them.

Is tree work licensed by QBCC in Queensland?

No. There is no government licence for tree workers in Queensland. The industry expectation is AQF qualifications plus insurance. Building work licensed by QBCC is a different regime.

Can I get an emergency tree removal quote?

Yes — choose an urgent timeframe on the form and add photos. The arborist who accepts the job confirms timing.

Do you remove palm trees?

We can pass palm-removal requests to a local crew. Include height, access and photos; ask whether stump grinding is included.
